Hello all!

Today is day four of training camp and everything has been amazing. It’s been so awesome reuniting with my squad and preparing to launch overseas and serve the lord. One thing that stood out to me after arriving here was that it felt like I never left. Despite going home for what felt like an eternity, it felt like I never left after I arrived in Gainesville.

I just wanted to share that thought real quick before I talk about what’s been going on here at training camp and explain my daily routine. I wake up at around 7:30 and go have breakfast with the squad at 8:00 at our meeting point. The food is actually really good and it’s been getting better every day so far. From 9-10:00, after breakfast, we have an hour of devotion time. This time is meant to read your bible and spend time with the Lord. I’ve been reading through the book of Matthew and Romans. From 10-11:00 we go and listen to a guest speaker give a sermon.

I wanted to mention the sermon that was given today because it was absolutely amazing. The speakers name was Rosie and the subject was about conviction vs shame. She talked about how conviction is the work of God and shame is the work of Satan and that you need to not feel shame when you sin because that’s how Satan takes control of you and pulls you away from God. What you need to do instead is admit that you made a mistake, confess it to God, and move on. This is conviction. Hearing this impacted me so much because it made me realize that I’ve been living in shame my whole life and needed to come out of it in order to grow closer to God. I will never forget this sermon

Anyway getting back to the schedule after this sermon we meet up with our teams at our squad meeting point and debrief the sermon together for about an hour. Then just before lunch we spend 30 minutes cleaning up around campus because with over 100 racers around, things get messy fast. Lunch is from 12:30-1:30 and then the next 2 1/2 hours is free time. Then from 3-4:00 we have a squad activity at our meeting point. Then from 4-5:00 is when one of our squad leaders or coaches gives a testimony which is always amazing to listen to. After that dinner is from 5-6:00 and then team time from 6:30-7:30 and then free time for the rest of the night.

So that’s my schedule for training camp and I’m enjoying every single second of it. I’m looking forward to the rest of these 6 weeks and can’t wait for what the Lord has in store.

  1. Caleb, I am Philip’s (Phil) mom. I love your comments about Shame and agree whole heartedly. Shame keeps us from so many good things in our lives.

  2. Caleb,
