iHola Todos!
Man it’s been awhile. Unfortunately I have very limited access to Wifi so I can’t blog as much. But I will do my best to keep you all updated during my time on the race.
But let’s get to the point, Guatemala is the best place ever. It is so incredibly beautiful here. God is so good! I’ll try to post some pictures in the future because you all need to see how beautiful it is here. I haven’t even been here for a week and I already want to live here, no joke. Probably the thing I love the most here is that we get to sleep on BEDS. Yeah goodbye tents and sleeping bags and pads, you won’t be missed. These next two months are going to be so EPIC. But for real though, the best part of Guatemala is the beauty of it. I wake up every morning and get to see mountains and volcanoes in the distance. God is so good.
The ministry I’ve been doing with my team, El Perseguido, has been really fun. We’ve been working with this ministry called One Way Comminity. They’re a group of I think 15 guys and 2 girls, although I’m not exactly sure if that’s right. What surprised me most about this group was that they were the same age or a little older than me, 18-29. This was very inspiring to learn that these young guys have such strong faith and love for God that they started their own ministry. Unfortunately a lot of them don’t speak english, only Spanish so it’s hard for me to talk with them, but I’m trying to learn some Spanish (makes me wish I took learning it more seriously in high school but oh well).
Yeah this week in Guatemala has been so incredibly amazing I am so incredibly thankful to God for bringing me here. There is absolutely nothing better I could have done besides this trip, so thank you so much God. Also thanks to everyone who has been praying for me. I feel so blessed to have you all supporting me. And thank you so much to everyone who has donated. I’m less than $400 away from being fully funded!!!!! Thank you all so much you all are so amazing!!
God bless you all!! Caleb.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” Ephesians 2:8-10.
Hi Caleb,
It sounds like you are very busy but happy. Don’t worry about learning Spanish. You’re in the right place to learn it now. We don’t always hear about the beauty of Guatemala so it is good to know there is beauty there. Let us know exactly what you are doing. Are you using your carpentry skills? We miss seeing you but are so glad God is using you to help others. You are always in our prayers for God’s blessings and protection. The year will go by fast so enjoy all you do and stay blessed as you bless others.
Lots of love, G’ma
Hi Caleb,
It’s wonderful to hear your update. Glad you made it to Guatemala, and am getting to connect and help with the ministry there. We continue to pray for you and your team! May you know God’s presence and love as you interact with so many. I agree – God IS so good! ??
Blessings,
Michael, Kristen (and Josh) Ockrin
